A volcanic region in the middle of Germany - dormant, but not extinct.
Germany’s youngest landscape was created only 13,000 years ago in the Mayen-Koblenz District by the eruption of the Laacher See (Lake Laach) Volcano.
Was this the beginning of a new era of volcanic activity or the end of a period of continuous eruptions lasting thousands of years?
