14. TUFF CENTER: TUFF - STONE FROM VOLCANIC ASH!

If you would like to learn more about tuff, you can find out more about this stone and its uses in the “Weiberner Schaufenster” on the left. The path on the right also takes you up to the open-air exhibition at the stone saw house in just a few minutes, where a stone saw and a crane, among other things, clearly illustrate the working processes involved in tuff.

The tourist information office regularly offers guided tours of the impressive Weibern tuff quarries and, like the local stonemasons' association, organizes hands-on stone hammering courses where individual works of art are created from volcanic rock.

The Tuff Museum in the “Steinmetzbahnhof” also displays an extensive collection of Eifel rocks and provides an insight into the work of stonemasons. The museum is open by appointment.

PLACES OF INTEREST

WE LIKED IT VERY MUCH. CAN BE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO FAMILIES. IT'S ALSO VERY NICE TO GO TO LAACH VOLCANO LAKE AFTERWARDS.
